Mirror Mirror : A Movie Review

Expect the unexpected.

Let me start off by saying the costumes and cinematography were breathtaking. There were just an obscene amount of attention to details happening all over the place. Not to forget the snow. What would a Snow White movie be without fallen snow? :)

Mirror Mirror follows a long trend of modern Hollywood remakes and reboots that update a classic tale and add twists to the original material to make it more hip and modern. Hence, Mirror Mirror is a modern Snow White fairy tale. Snow White ( gorgeous Lily Collins) didn't fall for please-bite-the-apple-lame-trick, fought using sword bravely and pretended to hate the guy she's in love with - Prince Alcott ( Armie Hammer).

The storyline was pretty much the same. Snow White's Mom passed away, her Dad remarried to the evil stepmother, later known as the Queen ( Julia Roberts) . The Queen got jealous because Snow White got all the Prince attention and decided to kill her. Then she met the seven dwarfs, and blablabla. Expect a few twists here and there. No worries, I'm not gonna give the spoilers.

Armie Hammer
I think the film's real break point is lacked of emotion portrayed by Snow White. She should have done more, but she so lovely so it's forgiven. Haha. Prince Alcott was amusingly adorable. The Queen made a great impact with sarcastic punchlines here and there. Needless to say, for most part, the cast are excellent.

So final vote - I really liked the film. The predictable factor was expected but it was part of the charm. Ergo, 3.5/5.
